Pennsylvania Gov. Wolf Orders Shutdown of all Non Life-Sustaining Businesses, including Shell Cracker Plant

Harrisburg, PA -- Governor Tom Wolf announced in an executive order yesterday the shutdown of all “non life-sustaining” businesses in the Commonwealth in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. This included the Shell cracker plant in southwestern Pennsylvania, which employs thousands of workers.
In response, Food & Water Action Pennsylvania Director Megan McDonough released the following statement:
“The steps taken by Governor Wolf have come on the heels of a robust campaign to shut down dangerous operators like Shell to keep our communities safe from both the reckless corporate actors and the threat of an out-of-control pandemic, COVID-19.
“Food & Water Action remains committed and will keep fighting to ensure that non life-sustaining projects must follow the same rules as all other businesses across the Commonwealth, no exceptions.”
