Food & Water Watch, a nonprofit consumer organization that works to ensure clean water and safe food, is seeking a legal intern for its Washington D.C. office.
Food & Water Watch challenges the corporate control and abuse of our food and water resources by empowering people to take action and by transforming the public consciousness about what we eat and drink. Through research, public and policymaker education, media, and lobbying, the organization advocate policies that guarantee safe, wholesome food produced in a humane and sustainable manner. We strongly advocate for public, rather than private, control of water resources including oceans, rivers, and groundwater.
We are currently seeking a legal intern who will assist the organization’s staff attorney by doing research, writing, and litigation, advocacy, and lobbying support for all of Food & Water Watch’s programs. Responsibilities will be both legal- and policy-oriented work in the fields of marine-resource protection, food safety, as well as water, administrative, and open-government law.
Applicants should be self-motivated, detail- and action-oriented law students, who are committed to social justice and the mission of the organization, and who are considering a nonprofit career after graduation. Small stipends may be available.
