People power kicks Rick Snyder out of Harvard

At the end of June, Former Michigan Governor Rick Snyder was named as a senior research fellow at the Harvard Kennedy School. Jeffrey Liebman, director of the school’s Taubman Center for State and Local Government, announced the appointment.
This move was outrageous and a slap in the face to the residents of Flint, Michigan, who continue to suffer serious health and financial consequences as a result of Governor Snyder's actions. So we took action.
Thousands of Food & Water Watch supporters contacted Professor Liebman demanding that Snyder be fired — and it worked!
In less than a week, Snyder announced via Twitter he was turning down Harvard's offer as Senior Research Fellow:
I have informed the HKennedy Sch that I am turning down its offer as Snr Res Fellow. It would have been exciting to share my experiences, both positive and negative; our current political environment and its lack of civility makes this too disruptive. I wish them the best.

This display of public pressure shows that we're not going to stand for the complacency of a university and a former governor ignoring the fact that his decisions led to people being poisoned in his community. This announcement is relieving news and a clear testament to the power of organizing. Read our statement on the issue.
